Tommy Johnston
Director
Tommy Johnston is a member of a fifth-generation pecan farming family from Thomaston, Georgia, where he and his wife Carmen reside. Since 2017, he has operated a State Farm insurance agency in Forsyth, building his practice on trust, personal relationships, and genuine care for the people he serves.
Tommy’s board and philanthropic experience is extensive. He served on the Forsyth-Monroe Chamber of Commerce Board from 2019 to 2023, including a term as Chairman in 2022, and simultaneously served on the Chamber Foundation Board. He was selected for both Leadership Monroe (Class of 2018) and Leadership Georgia (Class of 2022), and served on the Valdosta State University Alumni Board from 2019 to 2024. For over a decade, he cofounded and chaired Scrambling Fore the Cause, a fundraiser benefiting Multiple Sclerosis research that he led from 2008 to 2022. He currently serves with the Rotary Club of Forsyth-Monroe County.
As a member of a family with five generations of land stewardship and a deep appreciation for preserving what makes a place special, Tommy brings a natural affinity for the Jekyll Island Foundation’s mission of conservation, preservation, and education. He and Carmen are proud members of the Thomaston community.
