Dion Davis
Jekyll Island Foundation Executive Director
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Dion Davis’ leadership training began when she joined the United States Air Force, serving as a radar electrician. Post military, she attended the Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, PA, cheffing for six years. In 2000, she moved to Jesup, GA to be near family. Realizing her love and gift for organizational administration, connection, and community building, she entered a career with the Wayne County (Georgia) Chamber of Commerce. There she served as Chamber Coordinator and Membership Director, growing the organization to over 300 members and founding several member programs including the Lunch and Learn and Ambassador programs.
In 2011, with more than fifteen years of management experience, Davis came to Jekyll Island to assume the Office Manager position at the Jekyll Island Foundation, transitioning after only eighteen months to become the Executive Director. Her dedication, energetic leadership, and creativity in her work for the Foundation led to a successful $3.5M capital campaign to fund the Mosaic, Jekyll Island Museum, fund a myriad of preservation and conservation projects, and the creation of membership, corporate sponsorship, and tribute gift programs.
After a decade of community work with the Jekyll Island Foundation, Davis has consistently exceeded expectations in her communication and collaboration within fast-paced work environments. She excels in approaching challenges with skill, knowledge, and patience and cultivates relationships easily. To each project she brings valuable leadership experience and positions the Foundation for long-term growth and success.
Davis has lived in nine states and traveled to seven countries. Her passion for life and travel largely stems from childhood summers on the road with her father, Hall of Fame Professional Bowler Dave Davis. In her personal time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
