J. Guyton Cochran, Jr.

Guyton Cochran, Jr. currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at Southwire Company, family-owned and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electrical wire and cable. Headquartered in Carrollton, Georgia, in 2018 Southwire Company employed over 7,500 employees with annual revenues of $6.0 billion. Cochran is responsible for Southwire’s overall financial and strategic management, including the company’s financial reporting and long-range business planning. In addition, Cochran oversees all aspects of information technology, security, data and analytics for North America’s largest wire and cable company.
Cochran joined Southwire in 1995 as the controller for the company’s then Wire and Cable Division. In 1998, he joined the company’s reengineering team focused on business process redesign. In 2000 he was appointed Vice President of Finance. Cochran became CFO in 2002 and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2005.
Prior to joining Southwire, he held positions in accounting and finance with Caraustar Industries and the auditing firm of Price Waterhouse Coopers. The Camilla, Georgia native holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia.
Cochran is married with three children to the former Mary Alice Teaster of LaGrange, Georgia and lives in the Carrollton, Georgia area. He is a new board member with the University of Georgia Foundation and previously enjoyed serving as a board member for Tanner Medical Foundation, Communities in Schools, Richards College Board of Advisors, his local country club, and his church’s vestry. Cochran is also a long-term member of the Rotary Club of Carrollton.
