Donald Kirkland
Director
Donald Kirkland is the Director of State Relations at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he is responsible for identifying and developing opportunities to increase the Institute’s visibility, influence, and support with state decision-makers and develop institutional funding priorities. He previously served as the Director of Public and Government Affairs at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and held positions in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s Director’s Office, in the Department of Economic Development, and in Governor Nathan Deal’s administration. Donald serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Georgia Council of American Indian Concerns. He sits on the board of directors of the Governor’s Interstate Indian Council, the City of Atlanta Cultural Study Group, and the Atlanta Braves Native American Working Group. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Managerial Science, a master’s degree in Education, and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University, where he captained the varsity soccer team. He resides in Atlanta and is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
